Questions About Coaching

A Note from Nicole
I’m Nicole Barbano—executive coach, strategist, and founder of Hunter Ambrose. I’ve coached thousands of professionals, from emerging leaders to C-Suite executives across healthcare, tech, energy, finance, law, and entrepreneurship. My approach is direct, pragmatic, and focused on clarity and execution. Whether you’re navigating change, burnout, or new leadership expectations, our coaching sessions are built to help you lead forward—on your terms.

What’s your experience as a coach?
Over the last two decades, I’ve coached professionals in complex leadership roles and individuals making bold transitions. My background includes working with executives, founders, public sector leaders, and entrepreneurs. I’ve also provided pro bono coaching to displaced professionals and formerly incarcerated individuals seeking to rebuild their careers.

Do you offer pro bono coaching?
In limited cases, yes. Each quarter I allocate a small number of hours to support those who have experienced major life disruptions, such as incarceration or displacement. Email admin@hunterambrose.com if you'd like to be considered.

Do you offer corporate coaching or team coaching?
Yes. We have a dedicated team of five corporate coaches who deliver customized leadership coaching, onboarding support, and strategic development to executive teams and departments. For a discovery call or proposal, reach out to admin@hunterambrose.com.

Do you speak at conferences or retreats?
Yes! I speak regularly at conferences, professional retreats, and leadership events. If you’re interested in inviting me to speak, facilitate, or lead a session, please send your speaker inquiry to admin@hunterambrose.com and let’s connect.

Where are you located?
I’m based in Kansas City, Missouri, and I travel about 30% of the time for business. Whether I’m in KCMO or on the road, our sessions are conducted with the same level of privacy, security, and professionalism.

Do you offer sessions for international clients?
Yes. I work with clients across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, and Australia. If your availability falls outside our standard time blocks, contact admin@hunterambrose.com and we’ll find a time that works for you.

What’s your cancellation policy?
We require a minimum of 12 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. One-time grace is extended for the first late cancellation. After that, missed sessions with less than 12 hours’ notice are forfeited and must be rebooked.

Is my information secure, and do you record our sessions?
All sessions are conducted via secure Zoom links. I don’t record sessions, but I do use Zoom AI to generate summary notes for your reference and accountability. These notes are never shared and are securely stored. Your privacy is always respected.

Do you use a client portal?
Yes—for executive coaching clients who book four or more sessions in advance, as well as for our corporate coaching clients. The portal includes shared notes, scheduling, and follow-up resources.

Why do I need to be on camera?
Coaching is most effective when we’re fully present. Being on camera allows us to read nonverbal cues, establish trust, and stay engaged. This isn’t a Zoom webinar—it’s a working session for your growth.

Why can’t I be in the same room as others during a session?
Group coaching works best when everyone is on their own device. Sharing a single camera creates visual and audio limitations and diminishes individual engagement. Each participant deserves their own space to reflect and contribute.

Can I bring my spouse to a session?
You’re welcome to request a joint session with your spouse after we complete Session One, which is designed to establish your individual goals and coaching foundation.

I was placed by Hunter Ambrose in the past year—can I get a discount?
No, I don’t offer discounted coaching services. However, you are welcome to attend Office Hours, which are free and open monthly to professionals in transition.

How should I prepare for a session?
Before your session, take 5–10 minutes to identify one topic, decision, or challenge you want to work through. You’ll complete a short intake form before your first session, and from there, we’ll build each conversation around clarity, accountability, and progress.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”
